PICC LEARNING COMMUNITIES SIGN UP
SUNDAY 9:00-10:00 am
Knowledge of God and His word are key components of a spiritually mature follower of Christ. In order to enhance our development as disciples, PICC is offering a variety of communities that will focus on developing our understanding of God and His word. This seasons classes begin on January 13.
Profiting from the Prophets
Where: Building H, Classroom 1
Leaders: Lydia Barrows (Bible Teacher)
John Jobson (PICC Elder)
What: Amos reminds us that God calls us to be in ‘relationship with Him’ as well as in ‘relationship with others’. In fact, how we treat others is an indicator of how we really view God. We will learn from Amos that both the physical and spiritual needs of people matter to God and they should matter to us. Amos 8:11 warns, “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God, “When I will send hunger over the land, Not hunger for bread or a thirst for water, But rather [a hunger] for hearing the words of the Lord!” This September, join us in ‘hearing the Word of God’ through the book of Amos!
The Beginning and the End
Leader: Phil Comfort (NT Coordinating Editor for the NLT)
What: A detailed comparative study of the first three chapters of the Bible (Genesis 1-3) with the last three chapters of the Bible (Revelation 20-22).
The Are of Parenting
Where: The Anchor (1st floor)
Leaders: Bobby Edwards (Business leader, Children’s leader and committed parent)

Based on Psalm 127:4, the course covers: The Goal of Parenting, Forming Character, Applying Discipline, Building Relationships, Understanding Identity, Nurturing Identity, Preparing for Mission and The Power of Family. A $10 workbook is recommended.
A Big Picture Look at the Gospels and Acts
Where: Building K
Leaders: Joe Henry (Former pastor with 24 years in law enforcement)
Josh Henry (Financial advisor and Adjunct Professor)
David Rhodes (Pastor of Spiritual Formation PICC)
What: The foundation of the Christian faith is found in the story of Jesus Christ given in the four Gospels. The foundation of the church is found in the story of the spread of Christianity documented in the Book of Acts. While these books are often the source of sermons and key verses, many of us have never seen the “big picture.” Participants will be equipped with a condensed overview of each book, a sense of how that book fits into the bigger story of the Bible, and will have an opportunity to address questions that may arise as we study the books.
