Knowledge of God and His word are key components of a spiritually mature follower of Christ. In order to enhance our development as disciples, PICC is offering a variety of communities that will focus on developing our understanding of God and His word. This seasons classes begin on January 13.

Profiting from the Prophets
Where: Building H, Classroom 1
Leaders: Lydia Barrows (Bible Teacher)
               John Jobson (PICC Elder)
What: Addressing the prophets in the order of their appearance in the books of Kings and Chronicles, we will begin with a general overview of some the prophets in the biblical narrative such as Nathan (1 Chronicles 17:1), Elijah (1 Kings 18:36), Miriam (Exodus 15:20), and Deborah (Judges 4:4). Then we will begin studying each of the writing prophets that are in our Bible such as Jonah, Hosea, Isaiah, etc.. The Prophet usually told ‘the Word of the Lord’ to a particular person in their time period. Additionally, they often referenced The Promised ONE, Jesus Christ, who was the Prophet “like Moses” predicted in Deuteronomy 18:15.

How We Got Our Bible
Where: Chapel
Leader: Phil Comfort (NT Coordinating Editor for the NLT)
What: A comprehensive study of the authority and inspiration of the Bible, the canon of the Bible, the Bible as a literary text, the Bible text and manuscripts, and Bible translations. The class will also address Old Testament prophecies concerning Christ.
